Serán Cascade was founded by industry veterans with experience from multiple companies and GMP facilities.
Dan is an entrepreneur with over 25 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. He was a founder of Agere Pharmaceuticals in 2008, a contract development and manufacturing company, focused on development and GMP manufacturing of solubilizing technologies, including spray drying. Agere was acquired by Patheon (now a ThermoFisher Company) in 2015. Dan has broad experience within the pharmaceutical industry, from Discovery to post-launch, including novel pharmaceutical technologies for improving exposure, safety, and manufacturability, including nanostructures, amorphous systems, and enabling processes. He has extensive experience with thousands for small molecule drug candidates that span a wide range of chemical space and has been responsible for advancing many challenging compounds into the clinic.
John has been a leader in Analytical science and technology, Quality, and Regulatory fields for over 25 years. He started his career as a forensic scientist with the Oregon State Police, specializing in drug enforcement. Since then, he has been involved in several pharma startup companies, managing laboratories, manufacturing, and quality assurance departments. John’s expertise is in Analytical Chemistry and Quality, and he holds a certification from the Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society. John was instrumental in the implementation of Quality and Analytical methods and standards for spray drying technology at Bend Research. John is a co-founder of Serán, and serves as its Quality Director.
Jeremiah is a Synthetic Organic Chemist specialized in heterocycle synthesis, catalyzed cross-couplings, conjugated aromatics, and steroids. He is experienced with custom synthesis, scale-up, and route optimization. In September 2012 Jeremiah purchased Organic Consultants, Inc. (later renamed Cascade Chemistry) when the original founder, Prof. Lloyd Dolby, retired.
After 8 years as a senior chemist at Cascade Chemistry, Jeremiah gained critical skills in synthesis particularly towards pharmaceutical processes. As the owner since 2012, he manages the company’s team of chemists, communicates with clients and has increased the client base by over 300%, and still dedicates much of his time to synthetic work.
Jeremiah earned his PhD from the University of Oregon with Professor Michael Haley where his research involved the synthesis and characterization of phenylacetylene macrocycles and cross-coupling reactions. There he authored nine publications and one book chapter. Dr. Marsden received both a GAAN and IGERT fellowship while at the University of Oregon.
